VIRGINIE DANGLADES - FILM & VIDEO EDITOR
I'm a film and video editor working on story- and character-driven, verité-style documentaries as well as intimate narrative features and shorts.
I'm currently editing a short doc about an African American biker & lover of Harley Davidsons, a daredevil in her own rights who in the early 20th century crisscrossed solo the United States on her bike.
In 2017, I edited “No Farewells,” (“Sans Adieu”) a vérité documentary by French street photographer-turned-filmmaker Christopher Agou with a score from Stuart Staples of the Tindersticks. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival and had a year-long run in theaters in France.
In 2019, the documentary feature "Wine Crush" (“Vas-Y Coupe!”) about a winemaker, his seasonal laborers, and a challenging harvest season, premiered at DOC NYC. See the trailer here: https://vimeo.com/414034306
I was an editor for "Unladylike2020," a series of short films about early American women trailblazers, as well as the one-hour American Masters special for PBS "Unladylike2020: The Changemakers." The series was an NAACP Nominee in the category of Outstanding Reality/Non-fiction Short-form.
The educational documentary feature I edited “Pushout: The Criminalization of Black Girls in Schools,” premiered in 2019 at the Congressional Black Caucus in D.C. and aired on PBS. Website: https://pushoutfilm.com/
After having edited several narrative short films, I co-edited the narrative feature “Elza” about a young woman looking for her father around her native Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. The film was a film festivals' favorite.
Other past editing projects include:
"Harry and Meghan," the recent Netflix hit documentary series.
"The principles of pleasure," a series on sexuality and wellness for Netflix.
"Meltdown in Dixie," a documentary short and duPont-Columbia Awards finalist in 2022.
“Reconstruction, America after the Civil War," a PBS documentary series which was a duPont-Columbia Awards winner in 2019.
“This is Life with Lisa Ling” for CNN, the long-standing investigative journalism series.
I am committed to editing films that tell relevant human stories and embrace people’s often daunting journeys to foster conversations about our humanity, social justice and issues of human rights; in sum, content and film projects that will help further the understanding of our complicated world.
